Lake Norman to Uptown Charlotte Living

Boating Lake Norman, NC...buy or not to buy?

I live in the Lake Norman area of Charlotte, NC and would like to get some opinions on whether or not to buy a boat. The lake is large enough to accommodate any size boat. However, I was told not to buy anything less that 24 ft for this lake. It gets quite busy on the weekends and the wakes could rock the boat a little.

My wife grew up on Lake Erie and boated most of her life. We do have 5 1/2 year old triplet boys and thought it might be fun to get them out on the water. However, we have heard a number of stories in regards to how expensive it is and that boats have a lot of mechanical problems.

My thought though was to go in on it with a partner and split the costs. Since we probably won't be able to use it everyday or each weekend. I have only been on Lake Norman a couple times and enjoyed it tremendously. Do we wait a few years until the boys are older or are they at the right age?

I would assume their are some great buys out there now and if anyone know someone in this area who is selling please let me know. If my partner and I decide to buy it would be an open Bowrider about 24-27ft.

Please let me know your thoughts.
